This tool helps convert survey drawings to Google earth files.
ESURVEY KML software package helps convert 2D survey drawings into Google Earth format, which is a 3D format. Google earth is a geo browser that displays earth data in 3D. The 3D earth data displayed is made from satellite imagery of fine resolution. The survey CAD data typically is created with UTM projection and done in 2D. Google earth data is typically available in KML format. This utility is capable of doing the data conversion either way; KML to 2D drawing data and vice versa. With this tool then, you will be able to export your CAD data to Google earth readable KML format and place information can be imported from KML files into the CAD drawing you are working on. It will then be possible to create 3D maps. The data from KML files will let you insert 3D information into the places of interest into your maps. This piece of the program works with ESurvey Sections and ESurvey CAD from the same company as a plug-in to supply relevant 3D data from an authentic source like Google Earth.
The necessary coordinate conversion between the UTM of 2D drawings and those of Lat-long needed by Google earth is done implicitly. You will be able to find the Lat-long coordinate of a point on the CAD drawing through the CAD editor. This tool will give you an additional opportunity to confirm accuracy of survey data by looking it up in the Google Earth. Wherever Google earth data is available, they can be directly placed on the drawing, no need to actually draw them in 2D CAD environment. This is a very good tool.
